From a security and privacy point of view, it is always a good idea to protect your private or sensitive information. You can do that by encrypting the data you want to remain safe, secure, and private. AutoKrypt is an encryption software solution that will meet your encryption needs. You can manually encrypt/decrypt files or you can set up a schedule and let AutoKrypt do the job automatically for you.

On a less than spectacular internet, it may take a bit of time to get AutoKrypt; the download is of 38MB. Installing AutoKrypt will not take long though. Going through the steps presented by the setup wizard will take but a moment. It must be mentioned here that there’s a Windows and a Mac OS X version of AutoKrypt.

If you are a novice computer user, you may feel intimated at first by AutoKrypt’s large interface, filled with all sorts of buttons. The truth of the matter is that you shouldn’t be. In the “Wizards” tab there are wizards that will guide you through setting up a password, encryption and decryption profile and through setting up encryption and decryption tasks. Once you set up an encryption task, you can view it in the “Tasks” tab. You can run the encryption task right then and there, or you can set up a schedule and run it at a later time.

AutoKrypt is free to try, meaning that you can use the application for free for a trial period of 30 days. This should be enough time for you to give AutoKrypt a proper going over and see if the functionality it has to offer meets your needs. To keep using AutoKrypt once the trial period is over, you will have to get a license.

Anyone who is looking for data encryption software designed for automation is very well advised to give AutoKrypt a try.

Pros

Simple installation process. Wizards that make it easy to access AutoKrypt’s functionality. Encrypt and decrypt data manually or set a schedule to have AutoKrypt do it automatically. Generate secret, public, private keys. There’s a Windows and a Mac OS X version.

Cons

Free to try for a 30-day evaluation period.
